for my non-filipino viewers: you are (or were) looking at a plate of tinapa (smoked round scad). a comfort food of mine since i was a kid that i am thrilled mark and august have come to love, too. :) we eat it with an egg omelette, steamed rice, and freshly sliced tomato.

you’ve mentioned this treat before!it’s pretty awesome that August is enjoying some of your childhood meals that your mum exposed you to.

did you make these or are these bought smoked already? i’m assuming asian market? btw, if you haven’t done so already – checkout the 99 ranch market in sugar land – 59s, turn left on hwy 6. it’ll be on the right side :D

i love it when august loves unusual foods. especially the ones i grew up loving. =)

i wish that i could say i smoked them myself but i bought them like that. all i did was throw them on an oiled skillet, dodge the POPS!, flip ‘em, and serve ‘em! :) and i haven’t been to 99 ranch market (i keep meaning to!). we normally go to viet hoa or my hoa. :)
